StreetBeat has reached an important milestone, completing its rollout of 21 publicly accessible Automated External Defibrillators across the Tuggeranong region.
The milestone was celebrated alongside StreetBeat’s partners, supporters, community organisations and government representatives, recognising the collective effort that has helped make lifesaving equipment more accessible throughout Tuggeranong.
Sudden cardiac arrest can happen to anyone, anywhere and at any time. Having an AED nearby can make a critical difference while emergency services are on their way. StreetBeat AEDs are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, giving members of the public access to lifesaving equipment when every second counts.
The Tuggeranong rollout has been made possible through StreetBeat’s partnership with St John Ambulance ACT, the generous philanthropic support of Mat Franklin, support from Community Bank Canberra & Regions and contributions from the ACT Government, local businesses and community organisations.
Capital Chemist Group also played an important role in establishing the program across the region. Roger Tall and Melita Flynn funded the first six publicly accessible AEDs installed in Tuggeranong, helping provide the foundation for the broader rollout.
Other supporters who helped bring the program to life include Bonnie Greene, Greg Moore from Knight Frank Asset Management and Lanyon Marketplace, and Bonython Community Hub.
Laura Nuttall MLA, Mark Parton MLA and ACT Government representative Brian Bathgate joined StreetBeat and its supporters to celebrate the completion of the rollout.
StreetBeat is an initiative of GoodLoop Mutual, delivered in partnership with St John Ambulance ACT and supported by Community Bank Canberra & Regions. The initiative brings together communities, businesses, government and local organisations to improve access to publicly available AEDs.
The completion of the Tuggeranong rollout demonstrates what can be achieved when a community comes together around a shared purpose. While 21 AEDs represents a significant milestone for the region, StreetBeat’s work continues as the initiative expands its growing network of publicly accessible AEDs across Canberra and surrounding communities.
