Bringing lifesaving AEDs closer to our communities
StreetBeat is a community-led initiative working to increase access to publicly available Automated External Defibrillators, or AEDs, across Canberra and surrounding regions.
Our goal is simple: to make lifesaving equipment available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, in the places where people live, work and gather.
When someone experiences sudden cardiac arrest, every minute matters. By placing AEDs in visible and accessible community locations, StreetBeat helps give everyday people the equipment and confidence to respond while emergency services are on their way.
How StreetBeat works
StreetBeat brings together residents, community and sporting groups, businesses, government and local organisations to fund and install publicly accessible AEDs.
Communities can support the program through fundraising, donations, corporate sponsorship or by helping identify suitable locations.
Once funding has been secured, each proposed site is assessed and approved before installation. AEDs are placed in accessible locations and housed in customised weatherproof cabinets so they remain available when they are needed most.
An initiative of GoodLoop Mutual
StreetBeat is an initiative of GoodLoop Mutual, a member-owned organisation committed to creating positive and lasting outcomes for communities across the ACT and surrounding regions.
GoodLoop Mutual supports the delivery and long-term sustainability of StreetBeat, including contributing towards AED costs during the annual November appeal and covering the ongoing cost of replacement batteries and pads.
