2026 StreetBeat Appeal Launched at Stromlo Forest Park!

18 Oct 2026

Canberra sporting groups are encouraged to help bring lifesaving equipment to the places where people train, compete and gather as StreetBeat launches its 2026 community AED appeal on Restart a Heart Day.

The 2026 campaign launched on 16th October, Restart a Heart Day, at Stromlo Forest Park.  GoodLoop Mutual, which runs the initiative, was joined by members of the Dirt Maidens, a mountain biking group, whose fundraising helped deliver a publicly accessible Automated External Defibrillator at the popular precinct.

GoodLoop Mutual CEO Ivan Slavich said this year’s appeal focuses on empowering sporting clubs and groups to make their communities safer.

“Sudden cardiac arrest can happen to anyone, anywhere and at any time. Sporting groups bring people together every week and are well placed to lead the charge in making AEDs more accessible,” Mr Slavich said.

“The Dirt Maidens have shown what can be achieved when a group rallies around a shared purpose. Their efforts have delivered lifesaving equipment that will benefit everyone who visits Stromlo Forest Park.”

Throughout November, participating groups are encouraged to raise $3,000 towards an AED, with Community Bank Canberra and Regions, part of Bendigo Bank, contributing the remaining $500 for every defib. Outside the November campaign period, groups can continue fundraising towards the full $3,500 cost.

GoodLoop Mutual, which runs the StreetBeat initiative, will also cover the ongoing cost of replacement batteries and pads, while St John Ambulance ACT will manage the monitoring and tracking of StreetBeat AEDs.
